Activities

• Sunbathe on the wide stretches of beach at the end of our street. Our beach is one of the most inviting and the least crowded of any in Los Angeles. Or enjoy the sunshine on your own deck or in our private garden.

• Bike along the 30 Mile bicycle path just blocks away; we have the bikes, or rent roller blades or a skateboard.

• Ride, jog, or walk to Fisherman's Village in the Marina or to Manhattan or Venice Beach. 

• Swim in the ocean or ride the waves; rent a surfboard and learn to surf.

• Bird watch from our balcony or from the footbridge to the Marina.

• Fish along the Jetty.

• Boat out to sea in a sailboat, sport-fishing boat, kayak, or harbor dinner cruise ship. 

• Walk along the beach collecting shells, admiring the dolphins, or noticing the large yachts, or volleyball games, or boat races. 

• Picnic at sunset on the beach - we have a basket and beach towels and take out deli on the way.

• Play tennis at Loyola Marymount or Westchester Park

• Golf on either of two public golf courses within 10 minutes including the famous or infamous 15-hole Westchester course, the only night lighted golf course in the area.

• Hike into the nearby Santa Monica Mountains visible from the Inn.

• Whale watch - in the winter. Boats leave from Redondo Beach. 

• Feed the ducks or sail toy boats in our seaside Lagoon.

Shopping

• Some on our street, 15 minutes from either the casual yet upscale shops of Manhattan Beach, the funky and unusual of Venice Beach and Abbot Kinney Blvd., or Santa Monica's trendy Main Street.

• Third Street Promenade ten miles away provides a weekend of shopping and also adds entertainment with its street performers, movie theaters, and outdoor restaurants.

• Major Shopping Centers or Malls are within 20 minutes - Outlet malls - an hour away

• Explore the food treasures of our local and famous farmers markets. Flea Markets are every weekend at various locations.

Museums and Attractions

Getty Villa

Disney Concert Hall

• New Getty Center is just twenty minutes north and is visible from our breakfast room. Their restaurant is now open for dinner. 

• The Santa Monica Museum of Art

• Bergamot Station Art Center

• Skirball Center is close by and the Museum of Tolerance within 20 minutes

• Los Angeles Country Art Museum and across the street, Petersen Automotive Museum both about 20 minutes away, and further down town is the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art and the stunning new Disney Concert Hall designed by Frank Gehry, the Dorothy Chandler Pavillion, and the new, Our Lady of Angels Church.

• Little Tokyo, Chinatown, and the historic Olvera Street are all within walking distance from each other downtown.

Theater

Theater is everywhere - in the summer just up the coast in Topanga Canyon is Will Gear's Botanical Shakespeare Theater. Closest to us are the Geffen Playhouse in Westwood and the Wadsworth Theater in Brentwood.

Loyola Marymount's college theater runs excellent plays all year. 

Restaurants

Numerous and varied and on our own street: Caffe Pinquini and Cantelini's for Italian, Outlaws and La Marina for American cuisine, Senior G's for Mexican, Cafe Soleil for French, and Sczhewan Palace for Chinese. One block up our hill are Berri's for Italian, and Tandoora India.
We are ten minutes from some of the top restaurant choices in Los Angeles: Café del Rey, Joe's, Melisse, Valentino's, Hal's, Sushi Roku, and Café Pierre just to name a few. We are happy to assist with reservations and suggestions.

Finally, we are about 45 minutes from Universal Studios and an hour from Disneyland.
